Thunderbird Bass TBX Wiring Thunderbird Bass TBX Wiring to modify your T-Bird’s controls & increase your tone shaping options via the TBX tone pot. This is one of my favorite bass mods & I’m really happy to be now offering this for one of the most iconic & recognizable basses, the T-Bird! Wiring Kit comes with clear instructions & pre-tinned wires for connecting your pickups. Depending on the model you have, you may need new knobs and to make the holes for the pots slightly larger to accommodate the slightly larger shaft diameter in CTS Pots. Thunderbird Bass TBX Wiring Kit Includes: 1 Fender TBX Potentiometer 2 x 550K CTS Potentiometers for Volume Controls. 1 Pure Tone Mono Jack (choose from Nickel, Black Nickel or Gold) Heat-shrink Copper Shielding for Grounding Wires. Clear Instructions for an easy install. What is Thunderbird Bass TBX wiring? Traditional tone pots give you a range from 1-10. A TBX tone pot will give you a treble and bass boost while remaining a completely passive instrument. Your standard tone control goes from 1-5 and from 6-10 is where the TBX kicks in. Giving you more treble and bass to your tone. The Fender TBX tone pot is stacked and dented so you can feel when changing over from your standard tone control in the 1-5 range, through to the treble and bass extender in the 6-10 range of your tone pot. This decreases resistance, sending more bass, treble, presence and output to your amp. Pure Tone Jacks Made in the USA, these are my favorite jacks available. I love them so much I don’t see the point in offering an alternative. With four points of contact, you will get years of life from your Bass Wiring Harness & having a great Mono Jack is a big part of that. Now you can choose what colour Jack for your bass. Choose from Nickel, Black Nickel or Gold to maintain the aesthetics you are after & not need to change this after your purchase. CTS Potentiometers I use CTS Potentiometers that are ordered over the 500K in value with a 10% tolerance to ensure you get the very best performance from your pots and that they are never under the 500K value stated. All with brass shafts and high quality wipers so you get the best performance from your electronics for many years to come. If you have an instrument that was made in Indonesia, China or Korea. It’s is most likely that you will need to make the holes for your potentiometers a little larger to accommodate these larger shaft potentiometers. Pre Tinned Leads For Easy Soldering All Tone Merchants Wiring harnesses & control plates are designed to make install very easy. You’ll find the “Hot Wires” that are to be connected to your pickups already soldered to the pots. These are the Yellow Wire or Wires. The Black Wire is a master ground for all your Grounding Wires to be connected to. So all you need to do is connect the pre-tinned wires & then heat-shrink wrap the exposed wire (provided). This removes a lot of the effort when new to soldering & the fears around over-heating the pots. Note wiring harness does not include or need new knobs. If your Thunderbird Bass is already using CTS pots, then you will be able to continue using the knobs you already have. Some models, particularly the Bolt On Neck Thunderbird bass by Epiphone use Alpha Pots, and you will need to replace them. You can find a wide range of metal & plastic knobs that will fir our CTS Potentiometers in this link. Hand Wired In Auckland, New Zealand & Sent To Musicians Around the World.
