With 1950’s Wiring the typical treble loss that occurs when rolling back the volume is much less than with Modern Wiring. Both the volume & tone controls become more responsive, & they react more smoothly without the usual hot spots. So it’s not necessarily about being “Vintage Correct”, but that you get a different interaction between your Vol & Tone Pots compared to Modern Wiring. The CTS Pots I use are a replication of the pots used in the mid to late 1950s. The Taper is not even, you’ll find the adjustments to be more incremental in the top and bottom end of the pot when turning it. Making it easier to make incremental adjustments when needed. Why 550K Pots for Les Paul wiring? I use 550K CTS Pot Pots with a 9% tolerance to ensure your wiring kit will never have a lesser resistance value of 500K. This additional 50K of resistance opens the upper frequency range, allowing the full harmonic richness of your pickups to come through with greater clarity. Les Paul Wiring Kit Tone Capacitor Options Jupiter Yellow Vintage Tone Capacitors – Aluminum Foil Mylar 1960’s Style Build. Modeled after the Yellow Astron and Blue Molded capacitors used in American made Guitars & Amps in the 1960’s. Made in the USA of US-made materials. Jupiter VitaminQ Paper in Oil Tone Capacitor .022uf – Authentically built to the original 1940’s construction of one of the earliest & most sought after Vintage Tone Capacitors. Made in the USA of US-made materials. .Jupiter VitaminQ Paper in Oil Tone Capacitors015uf for Neck Pickup, .022uf for Bridge Pickup – Using the same original 1940’s spec capacitors, but with a .015uf cap on the Neck Pickup. this is a preference for many players looking for a little more clarity when rolling down the tone. Pure Tone Jacks Made in the USA, these are my favorite jacks available. I love them so much I don’t see the point in offering an alternative. With four points of contact, you will get years of life from your Bass Wiring Harness & having a great Mono Jack is a big part of that. Now you can choose what colour Jack for your bass. Choose from Nickel, Black Nickel or Gold to maintain the aesthetics you are after & not need to change this after your purchase. CTS Potentiometers I use CTS Potentiometers that are ordered over the 500K in value with a 10% tolerance to ensure you get the very best performance from your pots and that they are never under the 500K value stated. All with brass shafts and high quality wipers so you get the best performance from your electronics for many years to come. If you have an instrument that was made in Indonesia, China or Korea. It’s is most likely that you will need to make the holes for your potentiometers a little larger to accommodate these larger shaft potentiometers.
